What should I know about charging my EBC battery for the first time?
When charging your EBC battery for the first time, it’s important to follow these guidelines to ensure optimal battery performance and longevity:
Initial Charge: EBC batteries are not shipped fully charged. Upon receiving your e-bike, you should charge the battery for at least 4-5 hours with a super external charger or for at least 10 hours with the internal charger before its first use.
Charging Process:
Connect the charger to the battery. If your model has an internal charger, plug it directly into a power outlet. For models with an external charger, connect the charger to the battery first, then plug it into the outlet.
The charger indicator lights will guide you through the charging process. Typically, a red or orange light indicates charging, and a green light indicates a full charge.
Battery Activation: The EBC battery features a sleep function for power conservation. If no activity is detected for a certain period, the bike will enter a 'stasis' mode. To reactivate the battery after this mode, simply turn the bike off and then on again. This only applies if the battery has not gone more than 3 weeks without charging. If it has been more than 3 weeks without charging and the bike will not turn on, your battery is in a low voltage protection mode and you will need to contact our customer service team at 949-264-4080 on how to get it out of this mode.
Temperature Considerations: The rated output capacity of the battery is measured at 77°F (25°C). Variations in temperature can affect battery performance. Avoid charging in extreme temperatures.
No Break-in Needed: EBC batteries don’t require a 'break-in' period. Once fully charged, the battery is ready to use.
First Ride: After the initial charge, your battery is ready for use. However, it’s a good practice to monitor the battery level during your first few rides to understand how your riding style and conditions affect battery life.
By following these steps for the initial charging of your EBC battery, you can help ensure that your battery maintains its optimal capacity and health over time.
